Welcome from SPHN President, Renee Magnan
Greetings and welcome to the new SPHN website! Check in periodically as we update content and resources.
The Social Personality and Health Network (SPHN) is a network of scientists with the shared goal of promoting the advancement of theory, research, and practice in social and personality psychology in health contexts to inform favorable health outcomes for individuals from all communities and backgrounds. The SPHN is committed to the inclusion, recruitment, and empowerment of scholars from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds. We value transdisciplinary approaches, and sharing of research products across the discipline of social and personality psychology and within the larger scientific and health communities.
Meet the SPHN Executive Committee
A cornerstone of our organization is to support and recognize our junior colleagues. To this end, we annually award an Early Career Award and Outstanding Dissertation award in the field of social, personality and health. We also annually award a Diversity in Research Award recognizing an exceptional colleague whose social/personality and health research informs efforts to promote favorable outcomes for individuals from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds.
We are actively working on new initiatives to engage and support our members. Be on the lookout for information on the reintroduction of our webinar series, development of a student committee, and additional opportunities to connect members of the SPHN. Do you have suggestions on how we can better support this mission? Let us know!
SPHN can only work through the effort and contributions of our membership. There are multiple, and growing ways to get involved. We value all of our members and want everyone involved as much as possible. We continue to grow and evolve only if we have new insight and ideas. I hope you will join us!
Stay tuned – there is more to come!
Renee Magnan, Ph.D.
